Faith in Action
We are starting a new section highlighting the many contributions member’s of the parish make to the life of the Church and our community. These acts, large and small, show their commitment to living a life in Christ. God has made us what we are, and in our union with Christ Jesus he has created us for a life of good deeds, which he has already prepared for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
The St. Demetrios Sunday School, under the direction of Denise Lansdell; Greek School, under the direction of Eva Zestos; and volunteers from the PTO accomplished the following stewardship activities this year:
- Canned food drive for FISH
- Supplied a STOP and READ station for the local Erase the Need program which donates books to children in need
- Sponsored 10 people in through the Williamsburg Angel Tree program
- Helped Orthodox Children in need by donating to St. Basil's Academy, home for disadvantaged, neglected and abused children
- Assisted 10 newborns in Syria through the Baby Care Kit program from the International Orthodox Christian Charities.
Through their faith these deeds are done without fanfare or a desire for attention, but as a community their stories are examples we should strive to emulate. If you are aware of someone who is living their faith through their actions, please send your suggestions to Father Gianulis, or Katherine Fatouros.
